Snorkeling Along with SNUBA

SNUBA and Snorkeling on One St Maarten Trip

One person wants to breathe underwater. Another would rather snorkel, stay on the surface, or simply come along for the boat trip. That does not automatically mean your group needs to split up.

Check current SNUBA, snorkeling and passenger options directly with SNUBA SXM.

A practical option for mixed-interest groups

SNUBA is designed for eligible beginners who want to breathe underwater without scuba certification or a heavy tank on their back. Participants use a regulator connected to an air supply on a raft at the surface and remain with a professional guide in shallow water.

Friends or relatives who do not want to SNUBA may sometimes be able to join the same departure as snorkelers or passengers. This can work well for couples, families, cruise groups and friends with different comfort levels in the water.

What each person can choose

  • SNUBA participant: receives the briefing, equipment and guided underwater experience.
  • Snorkeler: stays at the surface and explores with mask, snorkel and fins when that option is available.
  • Passenger: joins the trip without taking part in the underwater activity when passenger space is available.

The exact combination depends on the departure, operating conditions and available space. On our booking calendar, choose the options shown for your date. If the combination you need is not displayed, use the availability-request option instead of assuming your group cannot go.

Do SNUBA participants need previous diving experience?

No scuba certification is required. Eligible beginners start with a clear briefing and become comfortable with the equipment before exploring underwater with their guide. The minimum age for SNUBA participation is 8 years, and all age, medical, swimming and participation requirements still apply.

For a fuller explanation, read what SNUBA is and how the experience works. Participants should also review the important information and medical requirements before their trip.

One group, different comfort levels

A mixed group should not have to choose between forcing everyone underwater and leaving someone behind. Start with the direct calendar, select the activities each person actually wants, and send an availability request when the combination is not immediately bookable online.
