First Post Irma Tours were GREAT!

On January 2, 2018 we finally went out with our brand new boat and for the first time in 3 months, 3 weeks, 1 day and some change, we enjoyed SNUBA with a two great groups of people. The boat behaved nicely and we hadn’t forgotten our diving and entertaining skills yet. What an awesome day we had! And although the Hurricanes have handed devastating blows to everything above and under water, we can see everything restoring nicely.  Keep finding us…. things will be better and better.

Next stop would be the rebuild of our platform. I have decided to make it nearly identical to the one we had before, but this time it will be only a foot and a bit above the surface, instead of 4 feet. It is going to take a while before that is realized because we do still need to climb out the hole, but we should get there somewhere in the next feet months.

Do you want to help? We accept PayPal donations! For donations of 50$ or more, you will get a unique shirt… $75 or more will get your name somewhere on our new platform or boat.
You can donate right here (even if you have no PayPal account. PayPal will take you to a page where you have options)

See you all next post!

Back in Operation on Christmas!!

Good day everyone. With enormous enthusiasm I can announce that we will finally  be back in operation soon.

Our first tours will be available starting the 25th (on Christmas, yes)

While we normally do not have tours on Christmas, we decided we can no longer function without our beloved activities.  After three months and three weeks exactly, we HAVE TO get in the water and do some SNUBA. Best Christmas present in 2017 is work…. who knew?

If your tour was cancelled by RCCL, they did so because they had not received our certificate of seaworthiness yet. They cancelled your tour 18 hours before we received the certificate and immediately reinstated the tour when we sent it to them. Please go back on your shore excursion page and sign back up.

Additionally, we WILL allow bookings from outside if it is not possible for you to sign back up otherwise, for abovementioned reasons.

I will post again once our bimini top is back on. Today we will put on the last layer of bench and deck paint…. and we add the shade. our boat will then be ready FOR YOU!

Thank you for your continuous support.. it means a lot to us.

See you soon…. we hope.

Merry Christmas!!

Boat back in the water! — More to do

Yesterday FINALLY… our boat went back in the water. At 4pm, she was lowered from the lift and we pulled it out a little further before starting the engine for testing.

No water came into the hull, so the repairs were done right. Even this morning a quick check confirmed this. No water in the hull… whooohooow.

The engine started fine too and ran fine. Water came out of the exhaust within a few seconds, so the engine worries are over.

Unfortunately, the transmission now revealed a problem. It was scraping….so this has to be taken apart now and probably will cost a penny or two again. (this sh*t does never seem to stop.

Result is obviously–> we can still not drive the boat.

Hopefully I get to the bottom of this new problem by the end of this week so I can order the necessary  parts 🙁

In the mean time Eva and Bert will be working on the inside. Benches and top rail need to be prepped, repaired and made ready for Poly-Urethane paint and The deck likewise…. And then….still the bimini-frame to be done.

All repairs done and to be done have been made possible by people who love SNUBA SXM who donated a little or a lot..

Do you want to help? We accept PayPal donations! For donations of 50$ or more, you will get a unique shirt… $75 or more will get your name somewhere on our new platform/boat (plus the shirt) and $100 and more, you also get a voucher for SNUBA for two when you are next on island. (and the shirt and the name on the platform)

You can donate right here (even if you have no PayPal account. PayPal will take you to a page where you have options)

We will keep you posted each week with our progress.
Thank you much!!!

Boat Progress

And another week has gone by… and we worked very hard. This time the results are way more visible. we basically finished the hull. see this:

The colors look way better than ever before. Basically, these are the three colors of our logo. lettering arrives on Monday and will go on on Tuesday morning. :)….

The stern was a special project that took me a lot of time. here’s a before and after (you will see which is which… I hope)

Now…. with this behind us, we can breath again. Yard has been paid, we are scheduled to go in the water on Monday. Tomorrow Eva and Bert both have a half day off. I just return to the yard to do some more sanding. We have 2 days left in the yard…. I will use them!

In addition to the paint and antifouling job, I have changed the injector nozzle protectors and the injector seats in the engine and ran the engine for about 20 seconds… YES… no more diesel leak. Super cool!

Eva and I have also put in a new engine wire harness extension and the bilge pump and high water alarm cables. This time all cabling is official and according to i.s.o. standards….. and properly labeled. No more confusion.

The console has been taken off. This I will sandblast/sand completely clean, prime, fill and fair, prime again and then add a layer of gelcoat to make it look great. Expect this done before getting in the water (we kind of need the remote controls for the engine and the wheel…

In the mean time, Eva and Bert are sanding the benches. All will be semi gloss white. Either by the end of the weekend, or VERY shortly after.

We are definitely running on our last energy and also on our last funds. The Bimini might have to wait. We do have a brand new bimini… but the frame is in bad shape and needs cutting, bending and welding. Might be something that has to be rigged and fixed properly after the cruise ships come back and we make our first money again.

Hopefully, this will not take much longer. We are supposed to have the first ship in by December 17th… but as you might recall, we WERE supposed to have a ship in on November 5th. Unfortunately, this did not happen.

We, once again, thank our supporters and people who donated money to get us back in the water and running. It looks like it will not be too long now.
