Rebuild Progress Update

Hi there all. Thanks to your donations and hard work on this end, we are taking leaps forward. This morning, I was able to start the boat engine and it runs GREAT!! The transmission also seems to work nicely, so propulsion is a fact. The leaking steering ram has been taken to the workshop for a rebuild.

There is a lot to be done still, but having a beating heart for the boat is huge…. Tomorrow the plan is to mark all the perforations of the hull and prep them for repairs. Our transom, which, by the slap in the face Hurricane Maria was, has disappeared nearly completely, will have to be rebuild…Well… I guess that needed some work anyway. So marking, sawing and installing ply and then waiting for the fiberglass and epoxy to arrive. That will be a week………….. We want to be ready to go back in the water by the 21st… and rebuild the top of the boat in our own lift or on the dock if we have to. Maybe we will be in the yard somewhat longer. We’ll see! As for now, we’re right on schedule and that feels really good. This is mainly due to the donations we have received as it enables us to keep going.

Do you want to help? We accept PayPal donations! For donations of 50$ or more, you will get a unique shirt… $75 or more will get your name somewhere on our new platform (plus the shirt) and $100 and more, you also get a voucher for SNUBA for two when you are next on island. (and the shirt and the name on the platform)
You can donate right here (even if you have no PayPal account. PayPal will take you to a page where you have options)

We will keep you posted each week with our progress.

Thank you much!!!
